Educational leaders discover prevention is better than cure

The National Authority for Safety, Health and the Environment (SHENA) hosted a socializing event titled âBetter Safe Than Sorry, SHENA Storyâ for more than 200 leaders of educational institutions at national scale.
The event at the Sengkurong Sixth Form Center (PTES) was part of SHENA’s ongoing outreach program to engage stakeholders and the public in the pursuit of its mission to make Brunei Darussalam a safe and secure place to work and live.
Among the other objectives of this event were to provide a better understanding on the roles and functions of SHENA, especially for educational institutions; to better understand the importance of maintaining a high level of HSE in the workplace in different sectors / industries; highlight the roles and responsibilities of leaders of educational institutions in ensuring the safety and health of staff and students; provide an overview of compliance laws in building a safer Brunei, including the process of inspection and monitoring visit; and provide a better understanding of the safety management system in educational institutions.
SHENA aspires to promote and strengthen occupational safety and health in all workplaces in all industries and will continue to involve educational institutions with the support of authorities and undertake inspections to verify the level of compliance on square.
