Four new new cases of coronavirus were reported at another private educational facility in Cuttack
Cuttack: Four new cases of the new coronavirus have been reported at another private educational institution in the city. According to information received from Dr Satyabrata Mohapatra, head of health at the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC), the private college concerned reported the first case of Covid-19 on Sunday.
CMC authorities conducted a contact tracing of people who may have come into contact with the positive patient. Later, swab samples from some suspected cases were sent for lab testing, three of which tested positive for Corona infection.
It can be noted that Covid tests and health screening are underway in all educational institutions in Cuttack.
On March 18, up to 12 students at a private college in the city tested positive for Corona while a day later 13 more were also found to be infected with the virus. Likewise, a Covid-19 infection was also reported in up to 17 people from another educational institution in the city on March 20.
While the CMC authority has reportedly collected positive case samples for genome sequencing, it has yet to report the presence of a new Corona strain.
As of Monday, 25 new cases were reported in the Cuttack district, including 19 in the CMC area alone. According to data available from the CMC, there are a total of 107 active cases in the city. So far, the Cuttack Municipal Corporation area has recorded 16,542 confirmed cases, of which 16,347 have recovered from the infection. The total number of deaths remains at 88.
