IIT Madras ranked best educational institution

NIRF 2021 Ranking List: IIT Madras, IISC Bengaluru and IIT Bombay are the top three educational institutions in the country.

NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Madras has retained its first place in the general ranking of universities according to the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF Ranking 2021) published by the Ministry of Education. The IIT Madras NIRF ranking was the same as last year.

The NIRF ranking was published by the Minister of Education, Dharmendra Pradhan.

IISC Bengaluru and IIT Bombay were respectively second and third in the NIRF 2021 rankings. IIT Delhi and IIT Kanpur are respectively in the top five. There are seven IITs in the top 10 of the NIRF rankings.

The NIRF 2021 rankings have been released for 11 categories, including general rankings, research institutes, universities, engineering, management, pharmacy, colleges, medicine, law, architecture and dental care .

The NIRF 2021 ranking is based on the following parameters: Teaching, Learning and Resources (TLR), Research and Professional Practice (PR), Graduation Outcomes (GO), Outreach and Inclusion (OI), Peer Perception.

While the top two institutions in the overall category, IIT Madras and IISC Bengaluru, have remained the same, IIT Bombay has overtaken IIT Delhi in third place this year against the NIRF 2020 ranking.

The announcement of the 2021 NIRF rankings list has been delayed for more than three months this year, as the 2020 NIRF rankings were announced in June of last year.

IIT Madras was ranked first in the NIRF India 2020 general ranking. Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru and IIT Delhi were ranked second and third. IIT Bombay and IIT Kharagpur were respectively among the top five.

The top 25 institutions in the country according to the NIRF 2021 ranking are shown below.
