LOCK HAVEN — Are you looking for a preschool program that provides an environment for your children to explore, learn new skills, play with peers and build self-confidence?

Stepping Stones Preschool at Lock Haven offers this experience for children ages 2 years and 9 months through kindergarten age. All areas of a child’s development are targeted – language and literacy, social and emotional, cognitive, physical and fine motor skills. Stepping Stones, in existence since 1994, offers a quality, play-based program focused on the child and their family. Our developmentally experienced teachers use the Pennsylvania Pre-Kindergarten Learning Standards for the Early Years and the Keystone Stars Performance Standards.

Class options include: 2 days per week of morning lessons for children aged two years, nine months to three years and 3 days per week of morning and afternoon lessons. Stepping Stones Preschool offers open enrollment so a child can be enrolled at any time.

Other programs offered:

The Infant Development Program provides free early intervention services based on the individual needs of a child and their family. Services are offered in the home for children from birth to age three and through a unique center-based learning opportunity for children aged three to five. The center-based program is designed to meet the unique developmental needs of each child. There are a variety of classroom opportunities for children, ranging from a flipped regular classroom, which is a learning environment that provides the opportunity to interact with typically developing children; in a special class. As part of the early intervention program, the following services are available: developmental screenings, education, speech therapy, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, vision therapy, hearing services, and family services and support.

Parents as Teachers is a parent education and family support program that serves home-based families from prenatal through kindergarten entry. This is a free program available to all families in Clinton County. Our parent educators offer activities adapted to your child’s development, follow-up of stages, various screenings and referrals if necessary. Families are also invited to participate in monthly Group Connection events. Parents as Teachers is funded by the Mother-Child Visiting and Early Childhood Program (MIECHV).

The PACT (Parents and Children Together) program provides free parenting services to families in the Clinton County area. The program was originally called the Perinatal Program in 1993 and was implemented to support young mothers who were pregnant and/or with babies. Over time this program evolved into what we now call PACT and it offers multi-parent programs. These programs are the Zero to Three program, the Children in the Middle program, and the Building your Family program.

We work with families with newborns and children up to the age of 15. Educational support in the center and at home is provided free of charge to families.

If you would like more information about any of the programs offered by Infant Development, please call 570-748-3928.

Infant Development is a United Way partner agency.
