Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan hails the unique learning environment of Ahmedabad University

Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India (NewsSee) Honorable Minister of Education, Skills Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan visited University of Ahmedabad on May 31, 2022 accompanied by Minister of Education, Higher and Technical Education, Science and Technology, Government of Gujarat, Shri Jitendra Vaghani. Shri Pradhan interacted with the professors to understand the strategy of the University and especially its unique learning environment. Shri Sanjay Lalbhai, Chancellor and Chairman of the Board of Governors, and Shri Sudhir Mehta, Member of the Board of Governors of Ahmedabad University, were present at the meeting.

Professor Pankaj Chandra, Vice-Chancellor, explained to the Honorable Minister how the University is reinventing the classroom by addressing the complex challenges facing society as a whole through interdisciplinarity, experiential learning and thinking about research. He mentioned that creating intersections between arts, sciences and professions is an essential part of an education in Ahmedabad as it provides a young student with better skills and prospects. Shri Pradhan commended the efforts of the university management to create a vibrant campus with a unique learning process centered on promoting holistic interdisciplinary learning, pursuing research and innovation and encouraging of entrepreneurship through start-up accelerators in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

Commending the University’s efforts to provide inclusive education, the Honorable Minister encouraged Ahmedabad University to strengthen social science research, develop innovative instruments to bring education to the less empowered and prepare students in the future of work.
